This workshop covers a range of approaches to portraiture helping you to understand, both technically and artistically, how to create the portraits you want.
Based in the classroom and on the street, this workshop focuses on capturing portraits in a natural every-day environment, utilising available light, and introducing the creative capabilities of on-camera flash.
It explores a range of portraiture, from close-ups to envrionmental portraits, through formal examples, class discussions and practical tasks.
Participants will need a digital SLR or bridge camera with manual controls and a built-in or external flash (this workshop will not cover studio lighting.)
Please note – this course is open to beginners, but it does include some technical elements and a basic knowledge and understanding of your camera is required. We recommend that you attended our 'Get to know your Digital SLR workshop' in advance.
Led by Kate Elliott, who graduated from London College of Communication (UAL) in 2009 with an MA in Photography. Elliott's work has been exhibited and published internationally, including at The National Portrait Gallery, and The Photographers’ Gallery, London.
