The Social is a bar night: a place for photography professionals and enthusiasts to meet, have a drink, and talk about current aspects of photography. Speakers include artists, curators and archivists Victoria Jenkins & Nina Manandhar
Victoria Jenkins is an artist, curator and archivist living and working in London, and holds an MA in Photography from the Royal College of Art. Her photographic work has been shown at the Government Art Collection, the Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art and exhibited as part of Fresh Faced and Wild Eyed 2014, and had her first solo exhibition at Cabin Gallery, London. She is Assistant Archive Curator at the Tate Archive housed at Tate Britain and Assistant Curator of the display 'The Nimai Chatterji Collection of 20th Century Avant-Garde Documentation' also at Tate Britain. She is a visiting lecturer at the University of Brighton's BA Photography course.
Nina Manandhar’s photographs and curated projects explore contemporary global youth identity and the meaning of style. Driven by an enduring interest in people, underpinning her work is a will to champion authenticity in commercial and arts based commissions alike. Manandhar is also the founder of the What We Wore archive project, currently in residence at The Photographers’ Gallery, she is mapping the hidden cultural history of Soho through people’s photography and stories.
