The photographic terrain of London is a thriving and fast moving place. This intensive five-day course gives student's an exclusive insight into the contemporary photography scene. Including sessions on collecting and how to make the most out of the art market, private gallery visits, curators' talks at importantpublic collections and exclusive photographers' studio visits.

Monday Day 1: National Institutions

Morning: Meet at The Photographers’ Gallery for breakfast and introduction to the course, and a Curators tour of the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize 2012.

Afternoon: Visit to Tate Modern for a Curator’s talk, take the Tate boat to Tate Britain. Examine British photographs at Tate Britain.

Tuesday Day 2: Collecting

Morning: Visit to Christie’s Photographic Department to meet specialists followed by a handling session in the Christie’s warehouse. Lunch.

Afternoon: Visit to the V&A collection and Curators talk. Optional extra: Visit to a Private Collection and drinks.

Wednesday Day 3: The Photographers’ Studio

Morning and Afternoon: Meet in artist’s studios for a whole day of visits. 

Lunch at the Approach Tavern. Followed by additional studio visits.

Thursday Day 4: London Art World

Morning: West End Galleries, Lunch.

Afternoon: East End Galleries and the art world.

Friday Day 5: Summation

Morning: exclusive visit to a photographer’s collection.

Afternoon: Panel Discussion and drinks at The Photographers’ Gallery.

Fees must be paid in full at the time of enrolment. Enrolment is on a strictly first come first served basis. It is not possible to replace individual sessions that you are unable to attend with sessions on a futurecourse. The Photographers' Gallery reserves the right to alter the content and dates of all courses and to cancel advertised courses as a result of circumstances beyond their control.
