Chris Steele-Perkins (born 1947, Burma) is best known for his seminal documentation of British teen subcultures throughout the 50s, 60s, and 70s in his first solo book The Teds (pub. 1979). Raised in England from the age of two, Steele-Perkins has worked as a freelance photographer since the 1970s, travelling widely and photographing Africa, Afghanistan and Japan. He has been a member of the renowned photography collective Magnum since 1979, and his international reportages have received numerous awards and wide critical acclaim.
