Outset Teen Tours
Outset Teen Tours offer audiences new perspectives on the exhibitions, based on young people’s experiences and ideas, and give young people an opportunity to develop their critical thinking and skills in relation to photography exhibitions. The talks take place within the exhibition spaces on Saturday afternoons.
Each speaker is invited to research, develop and deliver a twenty-minute tour on an exhibition. She/he is offered various types of support including opportunities to attend private views; meet the exhibiting artist/photographer (when possible); attend talks or events related to the exhibition; meet and discuss the exhibition with a Gallery curator; and do a dry run-through of their talk with Gallery staff, in order to receive feedback and further suggestions.
The Photographers’ Gallery began this programme with four talks by young people in Summer 2005, with the Lise Sarfati exhibition. Since that time, the Gallery has regularly invited young people to respond to exhibitions.
We are particularly interested in hearing from young people who would otherwise not have this opportunity, who haven't addressed a large audience before and who are looking to develop their confidence in public speaking. Young people can also use this public presentation as part of their Arts Award work. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to register your interest or ask any questions.
