This evening event, with music and performance, takes the theme of identity and resistance, with an emphasis on Soho’s past and present.
 
Hear award-winning author and poet Joelle Taylor fresh from her world tour perform work including CUNTO, Ghosts of Soho and pieces from her acclaimed collection Songs My Enemy Taught Me.

Experience exceptional drag acts including Madame Jo Jo’s performer Minnie Diamond CBE, Drag King promoter and performer Adam All, and award-winning Drag King LoUIs CYfer.

The evening will feature music recorded at Soho’s legendary and experimental Trident Studios where musicians including David Bowie, The Beatles, Joan Armatrading and Lou Reed produced seminal tracks on albums including Hunky DoryThe White Album and Transformer with the help of a distinctive sounding Bechstein grand piano. Tracks will be played from vinyl and quarter-inch tape on a 1970s iconic hi-fi system. Shot In Soho curator, Julian Rodriguez, will DJ and also include other music related to Soho, identity and resistance.

Biographies

Adam All has been performing as a Drag King for 11 years and has been instrumental in the growth of the Drag King scene in the UK. He is the first winner of Pride in London's 'Prides Got Talent Cabaret' and the first ever winner of 'Best Drag King' at the 2019 QX Cabaret Awards. Adam was recently referred to as the modern 'Godfather' of the Drag King scene in the UK' and one of the 'game changers of the London Drag Scene' in TimeOut Magazine. Adam recently featured as a speaker for TEDxLondon and TEDxWomen, in a national campaigns for Method and ASOS and has featured on 'This Morning' for ITV, BBC Newsbeat, London Live and Sky, Channel 4 and ITV News. Adam All is the founder and host of popular Drag King Cabaret night BOiBOX and co-host of the smash-hit Drag King Competition MAN UP! Adam performs internationally and is a huge advocate of the emerging, engaging and empowering Drag King scene. He can charm and alarm with equal appeal, bringing live vocals and cartoon realness to his dashing geek-chic cabaret. LoUis CYfer quite literally thrusted into the limelight back in 2014 when he was crowned the winner of DRAG IDOL. Since then he has "thrusted" his cous cous COCKyness all over the world, he's the Sergent of sexy (And we are pretty certain he's one of boy George’s love children) he's our favourite Drag King ..... stand to attention and Salute - LoUis CYfer ...!!!

Joelle Taylor is an award-winning poet, playwright, author and editor who has recently completed touring Europe, Australia, Brazil and South East Asia with her latest collection Songs My Enemy Taught Me. She is widely anthologised, the author of 3 full poetry collections and 3 plays and is currently completing her debut book of short stories The Night Alphabet. She has featured on radio and television, and founded SLAMbassadors in 2001 - the UK’s national youth slam championships remaining its Artistic Director until 2018. Her work is taught as part of the English GCSE syllabus, and she has received a Change Maker Award and a Fellowship of the RSA, and was longlisted for the Jerwood Compton Poetry Fellowships.
