The Walking Reading Group: On Care

14:00 - 17:00

The Walking Reading Group host a walk focused on feminist struggles, utopias, and the radical potential of care.

Running since 2013, The Walking Reading Group is a project that facilitates knowledge exchange in an intimate and dynamic way through discussing texts whilst walking together. In this reading group the table is broken up by the street and the dominant voice is replaced with the sound of conversation partners talking together.

Participants are asked to read selected texts in advance forming the basis of conversations for the walk. Before setting off from LSE Library, you will be given time to reflect on the reading and think of important ideas and questions that you would like to discuss with a partner. During the walk, we encourage you to swap conversation partners three times to give you the chance to walk and talk with a number of different people.

The walk through central London will last up to two hours, and we will finish at The Photographers' Gallery. We hope that the weather will be warm and dry, but encourage you to wear comfortable shoes and to bring an umbrella, just in case.

The Walking Reading Group was founded by Ania Bas and Simone Mair and is run by Lydia Ashman and Ania Bas.

Tour begins at the London School of Economics and a reading list will be sent out in advance. Free with exhibition day pass (£4.00/£2.50 members & concessions). Booking essential.

The same event takes place on the evening of Tuesday 3 July.
