Laura El Tantawy: On Making Books

Laura El-Tantawy is a British/Egyptian documentary photographer, self-publisher, writer, mentor and experimental film-maker. Nominated is 2016 for the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize for her self-published photobook In the Shadow of the Pyramids, join her to explore the possibilities of designing, sequencing, editing and publishing book projects.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own idea or project they are working on, or hoping to realise, which would benefit from her insights and experience.

Laura El-Tantawy was born in Worcestershire, England and studied in Saudi Arabia, US and UK. Her work is recognized for its uniquely lyrical and impressionistic eye on reality. She has been exhibited and published internationally, including The New YorkerAfar MagazineLe MondeGranta, National GeographicTimeThe New York TimesHuck and Foam Magazine to name a few. 

Laura lives mostly in London, UK. She is currently working on her fifth monograph - due for release in late 2018.
