To mark the publication of her debut monograph, Santa Barbara, hear artist Diana Markosian in this online discussion. In this talk, Diana will give insight into her practice, which sits at the intersections of still and moving image, and how family and legacy remain central to her work.

Biographies

Diana Markosian (born in Moscow, 1989) is known for her intimate approach to storytelling using photography and video. Her projects have taken her to some of the remotest corners of the world, where she has created work that is both conceptual and documentary. Her images can be found in publications like National Geographic, the New Yorker and New York Times. She holds a Master of Science from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. Her work is represented by Galerie Les filles du calvaire in Paris.

Fiona Rogers is the Director of Photography and Operations for Webber Represents and Webber Gallery. Prior to that she was the Chief Operating Officer of Magnum Photos, responsible for managing the operations of the agency and designing and implementing strategies with the CEO. She is the founder of Firecracker, a platform supporting female photographers, and recently authored a book published by Thames & Hudson; Firecrackers: Female Photographers Now, celebrating contemporary women practitioners. She has participated as a judge for several notable competitions, including, the Mack First Book Award and the Getty Images Grant for Editorial Photography. She is on the Board of the Martin Parr Foundation and The Peter Marlow Foundation and an advisor to the Royal Photographic Society.
