Azahara Cerezo led the audience on a tour of political graffitis through Google Street View. In 2015 the artist started collecting images from different sites of political tension during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), for her project “Paisajes digitales de una guerra” (digital landscapes of a war). Messages appear on walls, rushed and ephemeral: they are written, crossed out, rewritten, erased. Google captures them through photographs taken at different moments, stitched together and forming layers of time. Street View becomes a tool for documentation and observation of how tensions evolve within the time frame that the platform itself creates.

Biography

Azahara Cerezo investigates in her practice the particularities and contradictions of the territory, whose physical dimension is liquefied by digitalising processes of global scope. She has exhibited individually at Bòlit Contemporary Art Centre (Girona) and at Centro de Arte La Regenta (Las Palmas) and collectivelly at Bienalsur (Cúcuta, Colombia), Centre d’Arts Santa Mònica (Barcelona), Nieuwe Vide (Haarlem, Netherlands), MUSAC (León) and MACBA (Barcelona), among others.
