Pioneering artist John Hilliard is renowned for photographs that supersede the physical object represented, while American artist Justin Berry creates hyper realistic landscapes, acting as “keepsakes” from journeys experienced in games such as Call of Duty and Medal of Honor. Both explore the nature of physicality and materiality found within the camera, interrogating where – and what – the photographer is.
Joined in conversation, the pair will reflect on how images are created, viewed, and read, as well as how the two see themselves as photographers and image makers. Moderated by writer and editor Patricia Bickers.
