Tomorrow’s Nipple: Censorship, subversion and social media

Female (as opposed to male) nipples have been considered as graphic, sexual body parts. They have been highly censored by social media platforms, with certain exceptions, such as when they are in images of breastfeeding or post-mastectomy scarring. This censorship has prompted many activist responses, from the Free the Nipple movement, to the Genderless Nipple Instagram campaign.
Building on this increasing feminist momentum, the Feminist Internet Tomorrow’s Nipple Seminar will explore the many ways we could be feeling, seeing, modifying and representing nipples in the not too distant future. We reject the demand for nipples to be always hard and always white. We call for soft nipples, inverted nipples, trans nipples, saggy nipples, milky nipples - not one future for one nipple, but many futures for all nipples.
