Book Signing, Mimi Mollica: Moon City

5:00pm, Tue 09 Dec 2025

Meet photographer Mimi Mollica who is signing copies of his new monograph, Moon City, published by Dewi Lewis Publishing, in the Bookshop.

Moon City explores the silent dialogue and underlying tension between two forces at play — the ancient pull of the Moon and the restless ambition of London's financial skyline — a quiet meditation on nature, capitalism, and the spaces in between.

Designed by leading book designer Ramon Pez, Moon City is driven by a deep sense of urgency — the same urgency that shadows our lives today. Climate change, political upheaval, social unrest, and collective traumas that, instead of bringing us closer, often push us further apart, isolating each of us in our own fragile bubble. Through this work, Mollica seeks to offer a space to pause, to look up, and to reflect — a quiet reminder of forces greater than ourselves, and of the perspectives we risk losing in the noise of modern life. The book includes texts by Iain Sinclair and Brad Feuerhelm.

Mimi Mollica (b. 1975, Palermo) is a Sicilian-born, London-based photographer acclaimed for his socially engaged and visually compelling documentary work. His long-term projects explore themes of identity, environment, migration and collective transformation, combining rigorous observation with a deeply human sensibility. Mollica’s photographs have been widely published in international outlets including The Guardian, The New York Times Lens, The Atlantic, Newsweek Japan, Marie Claire, Internazionale, Granta, La Repubblica, Konfekt, Monocle and 1000 Words, among others. His images have also featured in notable photobooks and anthologies by Dewi Lewis Publishing, Thames & Hudson and Hoxton Mini Press.

His acclaimed monograph Terra Nostra (Dewi Lewis, 2017) — a poetic and unflinching exploration of the enduring impact of the Sicilian Mafia — received international recognition for its layered storytelling and distinctive visual language. His latest book, Moon City (Dewi Lewis, 2025), continues his exploration of the relationship between people and place through a more introspective, atmospheric lens.

Mollica’s work has been exhibited internationally, with solo and group shows in London, New York, Switzerland, across Europe and in Indonesia. In 2015, he founded Photo Meet, a platform that celebrates and connects photographers through events, portfolio reviews and industry discussions, and he co-leads the Sicily Photo Masterclass, fostering creative exchange between established and emerging artists. Mollica is an Associate Lecturer in Photography at London Metropolitan University.
