Develop, Making a Publication: Publishing your work

6:30pm, Wed 03 Dec 2025

Ever wondered what it takes to get your work published? (18-24 year olds)

This event is part of our Past Programme

Join Rubee Samuel, founder of 24˚36˚, and visual storyteller Noa Avishag Schnall  for an insightful conversation about the creative and practical journey behind publishing Homebound.

Together, they’ll unpack the process, from first ideas to final print, and share what they’ve learned along the way.

What you’ll learn:

  • The difference between self-publishing and traditional publishing
  • What to know before approaching a publisher
  • What publishers look for in a project
  • The role of design and presentation in publishing success

Biographies:

Noa Avishag Schnall is a Yemeni author, journalist, photographer and human rights activist based in Paris, born and raised in Los Angeles. Her work spans multiple continents focusing on amplifying stories of justice, resistance, and cultural celebration working with underrepresented communities. Her writing and photography have been published internationally across news, arts, culture, and humanitarian outlets. Most recently, she sailed with the Freedom Flotilla Coalition aboard The Conscience as part of the mission to break the siege on Gaza.

This event is part of our Develop programme. The programme is a new initiative that supports young people (aged 18-24) to work towards a commissioning opportunity with The Photographers’ Gallery.
