Working across photography, video, painting and sculpture, Mohamed Bourouissa (b. 1978, Algeria) makes work that probes socio-economic processes, and the invisible tensions between different social milieus and their related cultural divisions.

Bourouissa's exhibition, Free Trade at Rencontres d'Arles in Arles, France (1 July - 22 September 2019) is nominated for the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize 2020. The Prize is an annual award, originated by The Photographers’ Gallery, to recognise and support the most innovative, original and relevant photography-based practice within a given year.

Caroline Dawson, an access and inclusivity consultant, has produced audio descriptions for three works by Mohamed Bourouissa that were included in the Deutsche Borse Photography Foundation Prize 2020 exhibition.
