This workshop, split across two Saturdays, invites participants to play with light, framing and performance to bring a sense of absurdity and strangeness into their work. Throughout a series of activities we will place familiar objects in unfamiliar contexts, and use elements of dream and fantasy to create work that reveals the uncanny in everyday life. In between sessions, participants will be invited to engage further through additional resources and other activities.
This workshop is the final in our series of events with artist Alejandra Carles-Tolra and will draw inspiration from artists and writers like Dora Maar, Helen Levitt, Oliver Sacks, Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Edson Chagas, Ursula LeGuin and Leonor Fini, among others. Each session will include creative exercises, themed group discussions, and opportunities to share work and experiment with collaborative practices.
Details on how to access the talk will be confirmed upon registration. Please check your junk folders if you haven't received an email from TPG staff confirming your place.
