Join multidisciplinary artist and photographer Mário Macilau to celebrate the recent release of his book Faith, published by Kehrer Verlag. This event will consist of a short talk and Q&A inside the Print Sales Gallery, followed by a book signing by the artist.

The Faith series is inspired by the practice of animism within traditional religions in contemporary Mozambique. This project explores local yet diverse conceptions of God and the cosmos, highlighting the preservation of ancient Mozambican traditions.

Mário Macilau (b. 1984, Mozambique, lives and works in Maputo) is a multi-disciplinary artist most known for his photography. He was included in the 2021 exhibition in the Print Sales Gallery, Presence: Five Contemporary African Photographers

Macilau specialises in long-term photography projects and series that address the complex realities of human labour and environmental conditions. Macilau started his journey as a photographer in 2003 from the streets of Maputo, becoming professional when he traded his mother's cell phone for his first camera in 2007.
