Biographies
Curator and gallery owner Susanne Breidenbach has run Galerie m since 2003. Founded in 1969 in Bochum, Germany, Galerie m represents and shows the work of a diverse range of artists across photography and video, painting, drawing, sculpture and installation. Susanne has represented Evelyn Hofer since 2001.
Since the early 1990s, she has developed Galerie m's photography programme with artists such as Nan Goldin, Dirk Reinartz and Thomas Florschuetz. She is the editor of books by Lucinda Devlin and Evelyn Hofer, published by Steidl Verlag. Recent exhibitions include the international exhibition series of Evelyn Hofer which has shown in seven European venues since 2019; Frames of Reference — the first retrospective in Europe of Lucinda Devlin — and Dancing is the best revenge, the first retrospective in Germany of Melanie Manchot (2023).
Andreas Pauly (b. 1956, Germany) is a freelance photographer of architecture and art. He first met Evelyn Hofer in 1982 and went on to work with her for many years on various projects and exhibitions in Europe and the USA. Working together they developed a long-standing collaboration and close friendship. He took over the management of Evelyn Hofer’s artistic estate following her death in 2009.
