Join photographer Alfi Moss-White for a career talk about what it’s like to nurture a creative practice over time, as they reflect on the first decade of their career. Alfi will share their journey through photography, from early projects and the work they are best known for, to the commercial work that has helped support their practice and how these different parts of their career connect.
Alfi will also talk about a recent change in their work, and the ideas that led to it. This includes thinking about consent and surveillance, what photographs mean beyond the image itself, and how photos can affect people emotionally and socially. These reflections have played an important role in shaping where their work is heading next.
Alfi's biography
Driven by a lifelong fascination with the human condition, Alfi Moss-White (b. 2000, London) uses photographs to explore the places of unity and division found within it. They are interested in the fringe of society, those who occupy it and the perspective of society from it. Alfi's practice is an investigation; their photographs are their findings. Recurring themes in their work include conflict, intimacy, (non)duality, transition, and change.
This event is for Develop participants, young people aged 18–25, and anyone interested in starting or growing a career in photography or image-based work.
