Ever wondered what different opportunities there are within a career in photography?

Gain insight into the varied possibilities a creative career can offer through Jameela Elfaki’s experience. Elfaki walks us through the trajectory of her career, starting out as a young Fashion Communication and Promotion graduate to becoming a recognised artist, and Editor in Chief and Creative Director of a celebrated independent magazine, AZEEMA.

She discusses how she began her career and continues to shoot for big brands and companies whilst being able to explore her own practice, as well as founding AZEEMA magazine.

Artist Biography:

Jameela Elfaki is a British (English and Sudanese) Photographer, Creative Director and Director.

Jameela's practices are often focused around identity, representation and the visibility of Women and Non-binary folk of colour. Her work is inspired by her own dual heritage, and often exploring themes of the 'in-between' and the nature of different cultures/beliefs coming together. Since graduating from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in 2017, Jameela has shot for the likes of THE FACE, PORTER, ELLE, GQ Magazine, Wonderland and more. Jameela is also the Founder, Editor in Chief and Creative Director of independent print magazine, platform and creative agency AZEEMA founded in 2017.
