A trustee's main job is to ensure that a trust or charity, such as The Photographers' Gallery, is well-managed and runs smoothly. This is a volunteer role and trustees meet together, several times a year, to support and champion an organisation.

Join Elspeth Walker, an Emerging Career Trustee at The Photographers' Gallery, as she unpacks the role of a Trustee along with Amanda Gray, Chair of Trustees at The Photographers' Gallery. You will learn more about what's expected of this role and, in turn, what you might gain from being a Trustee.

Please note: Although the Develop programme is open to 18-24-year-olds, this special event that ties into a recruitment opportunity for Emerging Career Trustees. To apply, you must be in the 18–30 age bracket between 1 December 2024 and 30 September 2026.

About Amanda Gray & Elspeth Walker

Amanda Gray is a Partner at international law firm, Mishcon de Reya, specialising in art law and the related field of luxury assets. She works with collectors, dealers, auction houses, artists, public and private institutions and foundations. Amanda has been a trustee of the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA); is the Honorary Legal Counsel for Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft, Sussex, is the co-chair of the Art Lawyers Association; and is also a member of the Responsible Art Market committee, London Chapter. [Appointed 2024]

Elspeth Walker is a writer with a particular interest in extending the accessibility and diversity of arts and culture. Elspeth holds a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Warwick and is founder of the Compression Arts Collective, a group that produces written content around contemporary arts. She currently works as an exhibition host at the Hayward Gallery as well as a voluntary copywriter at Agora Digital Art.  Elspeth is especially interested in extending the reach of arts education and brings an informed and valuable perspective to her Trustee role at TPG.
