Develop talk, Making an Exhibition: Curating untold stories

6:30pm, Thu 16 Nov 2023

Join this in-person talk with Dalia and Moulaye to learn more about a more inclusive, decolonial approach to curating photography.

This event is part of our Past Programme

The history of photography and art is often told from a Western, Eurocentric and white perspective. A decolonial approach addresses what is left out of this history and develops strategies to amplify forgotten or untold stories.

Using exhibitions such as Johny Pitts’ Home is Not a Place (2023, The Photographers’ Gallery) and The Missing Thread(2023, Somerset House), as well as The Road to Nowhere and M Le Monde magazines, Moulaye and Dalia will discuss a decolonial approach to both editing and curating.

There will be an opportunity for you to interact with other audience members in a group activity, where you will explore a certain theme and join group discussions as well as a Q&A.

This session runs from 18.30 – 19.30, please arrive on time.
