This event is part of our Past Programme

Photographer and set designer Destinie Paige presents an introductory talk about her work in set design within the film and photography industry.

After a her talk, participants be supported collaboratively create a set and to record this by making their own photographs.

By the end of the session, participants will have gained further knowledge and experience in:

  • starting a career in set design
  • considerations for making a set
  • how set designers work collaboratively with others

Biography

Destinie Paige is a British Jamaican director, photographer and set designer. Her work explores the unseen beauty in the everyday experiences of people. Her trademark is a use of rich colours and elaborate staging that playfully blends inspirations from cinema and fashion to redefine the picture of black culture and femininity. It has been featured in Vogue, Grazia and the Evening Standard. In February 2022, she curated her debut exhibition ‘Black Bxy Joy’ at Photographic centre, Photofusion. Destinie’s fashion film ‘A Kind of Woman’, an ode to plus-sized Black women in fashion, empowering a new vision of femininity that caters to all sizes was recently screened at the V&A in August 2022.
