Get feedback on your DIY image-based publications – print, digital or both forms

Do you want to get your publishing project out in the world? Have you already published something and want some feedback? Join this special edition of Folio Friday that aims to support creatives with their experimental DIY publishing projects, both online and offline. We are particularly interested in seeing work made by using new or accessible tools.

Folio Fridays are our regular in-person portfolio review and networking sessions for photographers and artists working with photography and related media.

---

Please note:

  • This session is for those who have designed and produced, or want to produce, their own, self-published experimental projects – either in online or print form

  • Presenting photographers should book one place only and agree to attend from 12.00 – 17.00;

  • Open to gallery visitors from 14.00 – 17.00, and included with exhibition entrance.

These sessions are free for participating photographers and include two presentations by photography professionals, as well as time for a complimentary lunch and networking with participating photographers. As part of this session, each photographer will receive two, 15-minute one-to-one reviews from the two photography professionals and an opportunity to share work with other participating artists/photographers, as well as gallery visitors.

This session's reviewers are regular host Steve Macleod and TPG exhibiting artist Kendal Beynon. The session is closed to the public from noon to 14.00 for reviewer presentations, lunch and discussion. From 14.00 to 17.00, we open the door to gallery visitors. In this way, Folio Friday creates opportunities for the public to view and discuss work with presenting photographers and is included with exhibition entrance.

If you're a creative wanting feedback on your work or a recent project – either completed or in progress – Folio Fridays are there to support you.

By booking for this event, you agree to our Terms & Conditions.

Folio Fridays are supported by The Fenton Arts Trust

Tips for sharing your work

* Think about what you want to get out of the afternoon and be prepared to articulate this to people, eg. specific or general feedback, sharing or exhibiting your work, next steps etc;

* You are welcome to present your work in print or digital form, or a combination of both. Please bring your own laptop or tablet, if you'd like to present digitally;

* You can show finished work or projects, work in progress or a combination of both. Typically anywhere from 15 to 30 photographs will be enough to get a conversation going;

* Bring along business or postcards with your contact details or website;

* Do use social media to alert people ahead of, or during, your session (unfortunately we can't offer complimentary entrance to friends or family – the session is open to visitors who purchase a ticket to the exhibitions);

* Keep in mind that The Photographers’ Gallery’s audiences come from a wide range of backgrounds - from photography specialists to people with a more general interest and enthusiasm.

* You will be emailed to confirm your participation around one week in advance of the session. (Please check your junk mail.) At this point, we can answer any questions you have.
