Deliberately informal, The Social includes presentations by photography/arts professionals, offering tips on chosen themes and encourages participants to join the conversation and share their own insights.
We'll hear a short talk by each invited speaker and leave time to discuss the theme as a group. The theme for this session is ‘self-fundraising’ with Anthony Luvera and Richard Thomas.
Anthony Luvera is a socially engaged artist, writer and educator who has collaborated with people who have experienced homelessness in cities and towns across the United Kingdom for twenty years. He is Associate Professor of Photography in the Centre for Arts, Memory and Communities at Coventry University, and editor of Photography For Whom?, a periodical about socially engaged photography. Anthony is also Chair of the Education Committee at the Royal Photographic Society. He recently achieved support for his forthcoming publication using Kickstarter.
Richard Thomas is a Welsh-born, London-based, street photographer masquerading under the name ‘theendoftheline’. His passion for photography began in his early years, inspired by browsing photography books, and he has always travelled with his camera. He has successfully fundraised through Crowdfunder for his series of The End of the Line publications.
