The Social: Unions & Associations

Our informal advice & networking session, based around a theme

This event is part of our Past Programme

Deliberately informal, The Social includes presentations by photography/arts professionals, offering tips on chosen themes and encourages participants to join the conversation and share their own insights.

The theme for this session is 'unions and associations' with artist Zita Holbourne and photographer Nick Dunmur. Together they will offer some background and advice related to the theme.

Biographies:

Nick Dunmur is a professional photographer, working on both commissioned and personal projects. He spent 6 years as a non-executive director of The Association of Photographers (AOP) board, two years of which as Chair. Nick has been involved with various working groups and committees concerned with copyright and photographers' rights at the AOP and other organisations. He provides business and legal advice to AOP members on matters relating to professional practice, licensing, issues with copyright and infringements.

Zita Holbourne is a multidisciplinary artist and co-chair of Artists’ Union England, a trade union for professional visual and applied artists, and artists with a socially engaged practice. A lifelong trade union member, community activist and human rights campaigner, she is also co-founder and national chair of Black Activists Rising Against Cuts (BARAC) UK, as well as co-chair of Public Services International Education Support and Culture Workers Network. Her work, both as an artist and activist, is focussed on equality, freedom, justice and human rights.
