WATCH: Screen Walk with Gretchen Andrew

Wednesday 24th March 18.00 GMT

Join Gretchen Andrew in a live-streamed online exploration

What do you want? Like, what do you truly want??? Gretchen Andrew's practice is an iceberg where her vision boards and associated internet manipulations are only the tip. Watch her as she uses desire, manifestation, manipulation, code, glitter, logical fallacies, soundcloud, pinterest, and hypnosis to realize her dream of having one of her works achieve a new contemporary art auction record. Watch her image transform from physical object, through digitized image, and spreads like a virus across the internet modifying search results, artificial intelligence, and the future in the image's wake. The internet cannot parse desire, but you can. Get intimate with natural language processing and your deepest desires.

Screen Walks is a series of live-streamed artist/researcher-led explorations of online spaces and artistic strategies designed to illuminate a thriving – often overlooked – digital cultural scene. A new online collaboration between The Photographers’ Gallery, UK and Fotomuseum Winterthur, Switzerland. Screen Walks is kindly supported by: Pro Helvetia, Swiss Arts Council.

Gretchen Andrew hacks systems of power with art, glitter and code. She became known for her vision boards and associated performative internet manipulations of political, tehnical, and art world institutions such as Frieze Los Angeles, The Next American President, and The Cover of Artforum. She is represented by Annka Kultys Gallery, who will be hosting her next exhibition opening in London on April 22. Her work is also currently on display in Berlin at KÖNIG GALERIE as part of The Artist is Online, curated by Anika Meier. This year she is also artist in residence at London’s National Gallery X and has a solo exhibition at Francisco Carolinum Museum for Modern and Contemporary Art.
