Teachers Session: What have your students taught you?

6:00pm, Wed 06 Nov 2024

Join us at Autograph to unpack the different ways the student-teacher dynamic can spark imagination and creativity

How can we centre the word artist in artist teacher? This session will look at the role students play in inspiring the artistic practice of teachers, unpacking the different ways the student-teacher dynamic can spark imagination and creativity.

The evening will be led by writer Hannah Lowe who, for over a decade, taught London sixth formers. Her award-winning book The Kids contains compassionate and energetic sonnets that are fictionalised portraits of the students she nurtured.

Lowe will read a selection of poems from The Kids, while sharing how her students have inspired her. We will then move into a discussion and workshop with prompts, sharing and reflection as a group.

All materials and refreshments will be provided. This event is part of Autograph's teachers’ programme, and specifically programmed for primary and secondary teachers in England.
