Rayane Jemaa shared his ongoing archive of photogrammetric scans of video games set in the Arab World. His project “Is This the Middle East?” is an investigation into representation of the Middle East and North Africa(MENA) in recent video games (early 2000s to today). During this Screenwalk, he walked through his process and the aesthetics of his images, along with various parts of his archive. 

Rayane Jemaa (1998, Geneva) is a British-Tunisian digital artist and designer currently based in Switzerland. His work has a strong focus on archival design, specifically representation in new tools and technologies. His recent ongoing project “Is This the Middle East?” investigates stereotypes and representation of the Middle East and North Africa in video games. It was a finalist project at the 2022 Swiss Design Awards.
