This afternoon workshop invites participants to explore memory, dreaming and image-making through a collective, hands-on process. Led by Amak Mahmoodian, and drawing her ongoing interest in dreams as shared inner landscapes, the session offers space for reflection, collaboration and experimentation.
Working individually or in pairs, participants will create images using Polaroid cameras, personal smartphones and digital cameras, taking inspiration from memories or dreams they wish to explore (participants may wish to work with a personal object, as well). Alongside this, they will be invited to write about their dreams or memories, which will be displayed together with their images, forming a temporary shared installation within the workshop space.
The session emphasises process and experimentation over outcome, encouraging conversation, exchange and care. The day will include opportunity to work with objects, take short walks, visit the exhibitions, or collaborate with others as part of developing their images.
No prior experience needed and open to all levels, the workshop welcomes a wide range of experiences and reflects Mahmoodian’s belief in dreaming as a powerful tool for connection across personal, cultural and political boundaries.
