This zine workshop uses photos from your phone, particularly those that often go unnoticed or unused. Join Felix Falck-Næss for an intensive 90-minute session where participants can create a zine to take away.
Format:
The session will begin with a short introduction to zine culture, including a brief look at ShrimpZine and how it works. Felix will also share some of the different zines he’s made including projects such as his book, Sleepwalking.
Participants will then be guided through this hands-on session to make an 8 to 32 page zine. You'll get tips on layout, sequencing and design.
Things to bring
Bring your smart phone or tablet, loaded with at least eight photos (no need to take any for the workshop - this is all about diving into the stuff you'd not usually highlight).
Bursary places
Two bursary places for UK-based photographers facing barriers to participation are available, on a first come, first served basis. Please apply by emailing projects@tpg.org.uk with the subject header 'Make a Zine bursary place' before noon on the Friday 21 November, briefly stating your reason for applying for a bursary place. All information will be kept confidential and anonymous, and destroyed after processing within GDPR guidelines.
About Shrimp Zine
Shrimp Zine is a mobile web app that offers an alternative entry point for the art of zine-making, exploring the possibilities of the digital and the physical coming into contact with one another whilst engaging in public discourse, and as a communal tool, offering the opportunity to put into the hands of the producer the power to tell their own story. By bridging the gap between traditional zine-making and mobile technology in a fun, engaging, and simple way, Shrimp Zine is designed as a free, accessible, and user-friendly platform that encourages young audiences to create, share and print their own zines, to foster creativity and to promote spontaneous production whilst on the go. It was developed by Andreas Laszlo Konrath.
