For the duration of this Screen Walk, Laura Paloma pretended to be a human and shared her many Facebook lives as ant, fish, screaming opossum, piece of bread, soccer mom, middle-aged dad. Her desktop performance explored the aesthetics and codes of Facebook role-playing groups by taking a closer look at how GIFs, memes, emojis, stock images are used to create social media identities and communities based on pretend…or whatever the humans say…Blub! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Laura Paloma is an artist and writer based in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland. She has written multilingual short stories about love, loss and the livestream. She thinks of her texts as fan fictions or fever dreams. Her artistic practice questions the relationship between image, object, text, narrative, language, play.
