Book a one-to-one practical advice session with The Photographers’ Gallery’s Archivist

Have a collection of photographs or paper based material? (Your own or been given/inherited them?)

Need practical advice on how to look after them or take to the next level?

Then Ask our Archivist!

Book a 45 minute session (online or in the Gallery) to chat through your material on areas such as:

  • Preservation of the material (physical and/or digital)
  • Making them accessible to a wider audience
  • Digitisation
  • Cataloguing

And anything else you need help with looking after your collection.

In-person sessions take place at the Gallery. You are welcome to bring in a small selection of material to discuss. Online sessions take place on Zoom.

These sessions are open to all, particularly anyone interested in starting or moving on with the process of archiving paper-based or photographic material.

Please note:  Preservation advice can only be given on paper-based or photographic collections (not audio or film). These sessions will not cover repairing, appraising or conservation of material. This advice should be sought from an appraiser or a conservator.

45-minute slots can be booked for Friday 4th April or Saturday 7 June from 10.00 – 18.00.

After booking: Details on how to access this event and asking your choice of in-person or online session will be requested of all bookings. Please check your junk folders if you haven't received an email from TPG staff confirming your place.
