Director Daniela Zanzotto chronicles the work of Italian photographer Letizia Battaglia as she, in turn, uses her camera to document life Sicily during a time of violence. Battaglia offers an intimate portrayal of her memories, thoughts and experiences in this eponymous film, highlighting the profound impact of her work in capturing the brutality of the Sicilian Mafia and the resilience of those who endured it.

Running time 58 minutes. Following the screening, there will be a Q&A with the director.

Biography

Daniela Zanzotto has over 25 years of experience as a filmmaker, producing and directing a diverse slate of documentaries that have garnered critical acclaim and won awards worldwide. Her career spans from being a one-woman production team on independent feature documentaries early on to collaborating with large teams on complex broadcast and streaming series for major production companies. Her work covers a wide range of subjects, from intimate biographies like Battaglia to issue-driven topics such as women’s health and the impact of AI on daily life. Through engaging characters and their experiences, Daniela crafts compelling films designed to entertain, challenge and provoke thought. She continues to develop her own projects, driven by a passion for telling powerful stories that offer fresh insights into the world we live in.
