Join this morning talk with Polish artist Weronika Gęsicka, nominated for the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize. Conceptually driven, Gęsicka works with photography, collage and digital manipulation to interrogate the construction of memory, history and visual culture.
In this talk, Gęsicka will reflect on her practice, talking through her use of archival imagery and speculative narratives to unsettle familiar representations of family, domesticity and identity. How can photography be used to blur fiction and reality, and how might they be reimagined to reveal tensions beneath seemingly ordinary scenes?
Moderated by curator Julia Bunnemann (The Photographers' Gallery).
