Experiment with image making using The Photographers’ Gallery’s own camera obscura in this day-long event

Work with artist Gisela Torres in this playful, hands-on workshop exploring visual storytelling. Inspired by the camera obscura, this one-day session uses historical and contemporary techniques to create images. We will experiment with paper sculpture, pinhole viewfinders, and smartphone or DSLR photography to create surreal, sculptural images using the city and sky as backdrops.

What to expect

In the morning, you'll learn about the history of the camera obscura and how contemporary artists use it in their work while we start experimenting with image-making.

After lunch, we will break into groups and create paper cut-outs and sculptures to form images using visual elements from any surrounding natural elements. assembling forms to use in the photographs.

Details on how to access the event will be confirmed upon registration. Please check your junk folders if you haven't received an email from TPG staff confirming your place.
