Teen Tours

Our acclaimed Teen Tours invite young people to lead free public tours on Saturday afternoons to enrich their own understanding and offer audiences new perspectives on our exhibitions.

Established in 2005, Teen Tours is a dedicated programme aimed at giving young people an opportunity to develop their critical thinking and skills using our exhibitions as a springboard. This unique initiative encourages the speakers to use their own experience and ideas to offer our audiences a fascinating take on the photographers and works we show.

Each speaker is invited to research, develop and deliver a twenty-minute tour of an exhibition. They are offered various types of support including opportunities to work with a Gallery mentor, interview the curators and/or exhibiting artist/photographer; attend specific exhibition related talks and events, and rehearse their talk with Gallery staff in order to receive feedback and further suggestions.

We are particularly interested in hearing from young people who would otherwise not have this opportunity, who haven't addressed a large audience before and who are looking to develop their confidence in public speaking. Young people can also use this public presentation as part of their Arts Award work.
