Programme Co-ordinator & Mentor (Freelance)
We are looking for a freelance Develop: Teen Tours Programme Co-ordinator & Mentor at The Photographers’ Gallery, supporting young people in engaging with photography through public tours and mentorship.
Role Overview
- Lead recruitment, support, and evaluation of 14-19-year-olds delivering public tours.
- Research exhibitions and prepare participants for their presentations.
- Conduct mentoring sessions, provide feedback, and assist on tour days.
- Collect feedback, archive materials, and write reports on participant progress.
- Collaborate with gallery staff, including curators and youth programmes team.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit diverse young participants from schools/youth centres.
- Support their research, presentation skills, and confidence.
- Manage logistics, including scheduling, feedback collection, and documentation.
- Attend exhibitions and support participants during tours.
- Ensure a safe, engaging, and inclusive experience aligned with gallery values.
Ideal Skills & Experience
- Passion for supporting youth in arts, especially photography.
- Strong organisational, communication and mentoring skills.
- Experience working with diverse youth, including those with additional needs.
- Knowledge of public speaking and familiarity with London schools/youth centres.
- Commitment to youth-centered public engagement and equality.
